Today’s lectionary readings are Psalm 90, 2 Samuel 7:18-29 & Rev 22:12-16.
There was quite a range of different themes in these texts but I decided to go basic and focus on what open Psalm 90, our dwelling place. Our dwelling is God but I also took a focus on our dwelling place in the afterlife which has been visualised as the tree of life (Rev 22) with streets of gold (Rev 21:21). Second Samuel also makes mention of the house/home of God’s servant. That it may be built upon God’s word and receive a blessing that it may continue before God forever.
To dwell in the house of His servant is to dwell in the presence of God and all His glory.
